Madison, Wis. — The Madison and Wisconsin chapters of the National Organization for Women (NOW) will be rolling out endorsements for local political candidates in the upcoming general election in the coming weeks. Board member for both chapters Mara Jarvis released the following statement:

“Our endorsement process begins at the request of a candidate’s campaign. The campaign completes a questionnaire on our key issue areas. Then, our endorsement panel (which includes Heather Huber, Wisconsin and Madison chapter secretary, Jess Jones, Wisconsin and Madison chapter treasurer, and myself) issue the decision based on this information and on member feedback.

For transparency, we also would like to note that since she was elected Alder for Madison’s 3rd District and candidate for state assembly for Wisconsin’s 48th Assembly District, our Wisconsin NOW State President, Lindsay Lemmer, has stepped back from her duties with Wisconsin NOW and is not part of the endorsement process. She has remained neutral on the election.

If any candidates in the upcoming election are interested in receiving Madison/Wisconsin NOW’s endorsement, we encourage them to complete our endorsement questionnaire by June 15, 2020.

We look forward to announcing our endorsements soon.”
