Madison, Wis. — The Wisconsin and Madison chapters of the National Organization for Women announced its endorsement of Melissa Sargent for Wisconsin State Senate District 16. Wisconsin chapter board member and Madison chapter President Mara Jarvis released the following statements.

“As Melissa Sargent has served as the Representative of the 48th Assembly District for the past 7 years, she has proven to be an accessible and open Representative for her district, who cares deeply about the future of Wisconsin. She has generously spent time with Madison NOW in the past to discuss her work. Her current legislative goals for the Senate include addressing the many inequalities in Wisconsin around housing, wages, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and more. She is also a vocal proponent for cannabis legalization which would provide an economic benefit and, more importantly, address the inequitable application of current laws against Black people. She has a strong and unique vision for Wisconsin.

Both the Madison and Wisconsin chapters of NOW are very pleased to support Melissa Sargent for Wisconsin State Senate.”
